Bolsa Família began its October payments this Wednesday (18/10), bringing significant updates for beneficiaries. First, those with a NIS (Social Identification Number) ending in 1 accessed the program's funds. Thus, each day, a different group will receive their benefit credit.
However, Bolsa Família has already added an extra bonus for families with newborns. This bonus represents an additional payment that many are entitled to, but do not receive because of a simple mistake.

Bolsa Família offers bonuses for families with babies
Throughout the year, the Federal Government introduced several updates to Bolsa Família, expanding its benefits. The first additional payment is the Early Childhood Benefit, which provides an extra R$ 150 for families with children up to 6 years old. Therefore, from birth, the child is already entitled to this additional payment.
In addition, there is a benefit for breastfeeding mothers. Thus, these mothers can receive a R$ 50 bonus in the monthly benefit until the baby turns 6 months old, following the World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines on exclusive breastfeeding.
Considering both bonuses, families with babies and breastfeeding mothers are entitled to add R$ 200 to the benefit.
I am not receiving the Bolsa Família bonuses. What now?
Many families enrolled in Bolsa Família are entitled to the bonus but do not receive it. This happens because the Federal Government consults CadÚnico (the Federal Government's Single Registry for Social Benefits) to identify those eligible.
Therefore, if the registration is not up to date, the family may not receive the additional amounts. In summary, updating CadÚnico becomes necessary in two situations:
- When there are changes to the family's information, such as adding or removing members;
- Every two years, regardless of changes to the information.
Therefore, those who meet the criteria for the bonuses but still do not receive them should update CadÚnico at the nearest CRAS (Social Assistance Reference Center).
Caixa begins October Bolsa Família payments with an additional benefit
Many Bolsa Família beneficiaries will see an additional amount in their October payment. In addition to the bonuses already mentioned, Auxílio Gás will also be included.
Auxílio Gás helps Brazilian families afford cooking gas. Transfers occur every two months, following the Bolsa Família schedule.
Therefore, participants in both programs will receive a higher amount in October. This month, the benefit will be R$ 100, reflecting the national average price of a gas cylinder.

Bolsa Família and Auxílio Gás payments will continue until October 31, according to the last digit of the NIS:
- Final NIS digit 1: October 18;
- Final NIS digit 2: October 19;
- Final NIS digit 3: October 20;
- Final NIS digit 4: October 23;
- Final NIS digit 5: October 24;
- Final NIS digit 6: October 25;
- Final NIS digit 7: October 26;
- Final NIS digit 8: October 27;
- Final NIS digit 9: October 30;
- Final NIS digit 0: October 31.
Caixa Econômica Federal manages deposits into beneficiaries' digital accounts. They can therefore access the funds through the Caixa Tem app, which allows them to pay various bills.
To withdraw the payment, beneficiaries can go to branches, lottery outlets, Caixa Aqui locations, and Caixa ATMs.
