Updated Bolsa Família Amount
Bolsa Família is the Federal Government’s income transfer program intended for Brazilian families in conditions of social vulnerability. In this context, to join the program, the income per family member residing in the same household must be up to R$ 218 per month.
Through Bolsa Família, participants are guaranteed a minimum payment of R$ 600 per month. However, in recent months, the Federal Government, together with the Ministry of Social Development (MDS), established new parameters for the program, aiming to expand benefits for participants.
Thus, Bolsa Família bonuses were introduced, additional payments intended to increase the base amount according to the family composition. Therefore, the recent rules established that:
- Pregnant and breastfeeding women receive an additional R$ 50;
- Children and adolescents aged 7 to under 18 also receive an additional R$ 50;
- Children up to 6 years old receive an additional R$ 150.
It is important to emphasize that the additional payments are cumulative, meaning that larger families receive higher amounts. For example, a family with a pregnant woman and a child up to 6 years old will receive a total additional payment of R$ 200, reaching a payment of R$ 800.
Continuity Requirements
Along with the new Bolsa Família amount, new requirements were established that participants must meet to maintain the benefit. The updates are related to monitoring family health and education. See the requirements:
