Last Wednesday (09), Renato Casagrande (PSB), governor of Espírito Santo, stated at an event that his administration is actively working to reintroduce the “Nossa Casa” housing program. This program promises to grant R$ 20,000 to low-income individuals to help them achieve the dream of owning a home.

According to Casagrande, Caixa Econômica Federal is currently reviewing the contract. Once it receives approval, the social plan will officially return, with the support of the Federal Government, which will facilitate financing for those with lower incomes.
Details of the R$ 20,000 assistance
Established more than a decade ago, the “Nossa Casa” social plan previously benefited low-income urban and rural communities, aiming to provide them with adequate housing. It is worth noting that, despite being linked to the federal “Minha Casa, Minha Vida” program, it will use funds provided by the state.
According to the State Secretariat for Sanitation, Housing and Urban Development (Sedurb), the program also promotes the construction, purchase, revitalization, and renovation of social housing. Additionally, funding for these projects will come directly from the state treasury.
Criteria for beneficiary families
At present, to qualify for the R$ 20,000 offered by “Nossa Casa,” families interested in purchasing a property must meet the following criteria:
- Have a maximum monthly household income of three minimum wages (R$ 3,960.00 in 2023);
- Be registered with the Single Registry for Social Programs of the Federal Government (CadÚnico) – it is worth mentioning that in Espírito Santo, 488,653 families are already registered with CadÚnico.
A study conducted by the Court of Auditors of Espírito Santo (TC-ES) reveals that approximately 291,000 families in the state have a monthly income ranging from R$ 606.00 to R$ 3,636.00, which represents less than two to three minimum wages.
