What is Basic Food Basket Assistance?
The government implemented Basic Food Basket Assistance. It helps those who lack adequate food. Thus, the assistance is R$150.00 per month for families with up to five members.
Who is entitled to it in 2023?

It serves families and individuals experiencing food insecurity. Income must be up to three minimum wages. Therefore, registration in the Cadastro Único and proof are required.
Additionally, they will receive a food card. They include:
- Alternative drivers;
- Street vendors;
- Market vendors;
- Motorcycle taxi drivers;
- Taxi drivers;
- App-based drivers;
- Buggy drivers;
- Tour guides;
- Dispatchers.
Each state defines its own rules.
Who is not eligible?
The 2023 rules prevent certain people from receiving it. Those ineligible are:
- Those who receive a pension or insurance;
- Servers;
- Other assistance;
- Families with income in the last year.
How to apply for the Assistance?
The Cadastro Único is essential. Therefore, register or update your registration at an office.
To apply in 2023, contact CRAS. Thus, check availability.
Afterward, follow CRAS. Generally, access the government website and fill out the form. Then, the Ministry will inform you of the approval and next steps.

- Professional activity.
Granting
The family will receive the basket monthly for 12 months. Therefore, a statement is required at the end of the year.

Ceará
Ceará assists vulnerable families. It limits the number to 150 families and applies criteria if this number is exceeded.
São Paulo
São Paulo provided 50,000 R$100 cards. Now, it distributes 2 million monthly baskets.
The department allocates the cards for food.
Basket contents
The basket contains IPCA items. It includes:
- Rice;
- Beans;
- Sugar;
- Flour;
- Potatoes;
- Tomatoes;
- Bananas;
- Sirloin steak;
- Milk;
- Bread;
- Oil;
- Margarine;
- Coffee.
These items ensure adequate and dignified food.
