Attention Bolsa Família Beneficiaries: Important Changes Related to NIS

For those Bolsa Família beneficiaries with NIS ending in 6, the long-awaited day has finally arrived. This Tuesday (25), Caixa Econômica Federal will release the July installment payment for those whose NIS ends in 6. This installment represents the second with the additional R$ 50, aimed at families with pregnant women or children aged 7 to 18. Additional Details of Bolsa Família

Bolsa Família began granting, in March, an additional R$ 150 to families with children up to 6 years old. Therefore, the total benefit can reach up to R$ 900 for those who meet the criteria for both additions.

The benefit has a minimum amount of R$ 600, but with the new addition, the average benefit rises to R$ 684.17. According to the Ministry of Development and Social Assistance, the federal government's income transfer program will benefit 20.9 million families in July, at a total cost of R$ 14 billion.

Integration of Bolsa Família Data with CNIS

Starting this month, the National Social Information Registry (CNIS) will integrate Bolsa Família data. Through this data analysis, the program removed 341,000 families because their income exceeded the rules established by Bolsa Família. CNIS, which has more than 80 billion administrative records related to income, formal employment, and social security and assistance benefits paid by the National Institute of Social Security (INSS), provided the information for this cut.

However, another 300,000 families were included in the program in July.

This inclusion occurred thanks to the active search policy, which is based on restructuring the Unified Social Assistance System (Suas) and focuses on the most vulnerable individuals who are entitled to the income benefit but do not yet receive it. Since March, more than 1.3 million families have joined Bolsa Família.

Protection Rule

Around 2.2 million families are under the protection rule in July. This rule, in effect since last month, allows families that find employment, increase their income and still receive 50% of the benefit they would otherwise be entitled to for up to two years, provided that each member earns the equivalent of up to half the minimum wage.

For these families, the average benefit amounted to R$ 378.91. According to the Ministry of Social Development, integrating Bolsa Família data with CNIS resulted in the inclusion of 1.46 million families this month.

Since the beginning of this year, the social program has once again been known as Bolsa Família. Beneficiaries can use the Caixa Tem app to check information about payment dates, the benefit amount and the composition of the installments, as well as to monitor the bank's digital savings accounts.

Starting in March, the payment of the additional R$ 150 began, following a thorough review of the Single Registry for Social Programs of the Federal Government (CadÚnico) to eliminate fraud. According to the latest data, released in April, approximately 3 million people with inconsistencies in their registration had their benefit canceled.

Who Are the Bolsa Família Beneficiaries?

Bolsa Família beneficiaries are families living in poverty or extreme poverty throughout the country, with a monthly per capita income of up to R$ 218. In addition, beneficiaries must keep their Cadastro Único information up to date and comply with the program's conditionalities.

Caixa Econômica Federal makes Bolsa Família payments on a staggered basis, according to the last digit of the beneficiary's Social Identification Number (NIS).

What If Bolsa Família Is Blocked?

If Bolsa Família is blocked, the beneficiary has up to 60 days to resolve the situation. They must update their information and, if all the information is correct, the system will reactivate Bolsa Família.

To unblock the benefit, the family representative responsible for Bolsa Família must go to a CRAS service center with their official photo ID and proof of residence. The documents required from family members to unblock the benefit are:

• CPF or Voter Registration Card of the Family Representative;
• Identification document for each family member (preferably their CPF);
• Proof of residence;
• Proof of enrollment for children and adolescents (if applicable).

After the process is completed, beneficiaries must wait up to 45 days for their installments to be deposited again.
