Updated Value of Bolsa Família
Bolsa Família is the Federal Government's income transfer program aimed at Brazilian families in a situation of social vulnerability. In this context, to be included in the program, the income per family member living in the same household must be up to R$$ 218 per month.
Through Bolsa Família, participants are assured a minimum payment of R$1,600 per month. However, in recent months, the Federal Government, together with the Ministry of Social Development (MDS), has established new parameters for the program, aiming to expand benefits to members.
Thus, Bolsa Família bonuses were established, additional amounts intended to increase the base amount, according to the family structure. Thus, the recent rules defined that:
- Pregnant and lactating women receive an additional R$ 50;
- Children and adolescents aged 7 to 18 years old also have an additional R$ 50;
- Children up to 6 years old have an additional R$ 150.
It is important to emphasize that the additional payments are cumulative, that is, larger families receive higher amounts. For example, a family with a pregnant woman and a child up to 6 years old will receive a total additional payment of R$ 200, reaching a payment of R$ 800.
Continuity Standards
Along with the new Bolsa Família amount, new rules were established that participants must follow to maintain the benefit. The updates are related to monitoring family health and education. See the rules:
