New Gas Aid Value 2023: Find Out Now How Much You Will Receive in August

The Federal Government has started updating the official application with the new amount of the National Gas Aid. Find out more.

Just a few days before the start of disbursements, the Federal Government revealed the amounts it will allocate for the National Gas Aid this August. According to the new update of the application, all beneficiaries of the social scheme will receive R$ 108, regardless of the number of residents in the same residence.

The amount of the National Gas Aid is established according to the national average price of a 13-kilo gas cylinder over the last six months. The National Petroleum Agency (ANP) sets this amount. Based on this determination, the Federal Government transfers 100% of the amount to the beneficiaries.

As mentioned, the R$ 108 allocated for this August applies to all those enrolled in the program. Therefore, it does not matter the number of members in the same family or the individual's per capita income. According to the Ministry of Social Development, Family and Fight against Hunger, the amount is uniform in all cases.

Consecutive decreases

This represents the third consecutive cut in the National Gas Aid since President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) took office this year. In February, the amount was R$$ 112. Since that month, the amount allocated to users has undergone consecutive reductions. Please note:

  • February 2023: R$ 112 per household;
  • April 2023: R$ 110 per household;
  • June 2023: R$ 109 per household;
  • August 2023: R$ 108 per household.

Even with the reductions occurring under Lula's government, it is vital to understand that the cuts are not decisions made by the Planalto Palace or the Ministry of Social Development. It is a legal criterion requiring the government to transfer the equivalent of 100% of the average price of a gas cylinder.

Following this logic, if the average price of a gas cylinder decreases, it makes sense that the amount of the National Gas Aid will also decrease. Experts predict that the downward trend will continue in the coming months of 2023, according to Petrobras' perspective.

National Gas Aid Disbursements

Unlike Bolsa Família, which is paid out monthly, Auxílio-gás (National Gas Aid) is paid out bimonthly. In 2023, payments have already been made in February, April and June. The next payments are scheduled for August, October and December.

In the Chamber of Deputies, there were debates about making the Gas Aid a monthly payment scheme. However, the proposal did not gain majority support and payments remained bimonthly.
