At a time when the cost of living continues to put pressure on Brazilian families’ finances, Auxílio Gás emerges as a welcome relief for many. Thus, the federal government initiative, which offers a subsidy for the purchase of cooking gas, is an attempt to ease the burden of household expenses on low-income families.
Thus, with an installment of at least R$ 102 made available every two months, the program aims to ensure that no family has to choose between cooking and other essential needs.

Who can apply for Auxílio Gás?
To be eligible for Auxílio Gás, applicants must meet certain criteria. They must:
- Have an active registration in the Cadastro Único (CadÚnico);
- Have a per capita family income of up to half the minimum wage (R$ 606) or a total family income that does not exceed three minimum wages.
There is also a possibility of eligibility for families with an income above three minimum wages, provided they are enrolled in income-transfer programs at any level of government.
In addition, the program establishes payment priorities, giving preference to families with lower incomes, a larger number of members, and those already receiving Auxílio Brasil, for example.
Registration process
To enroll in Auxílio Gás, applicants must ensure that their registration in CadÚnico is up to date. The data should preferably be from the last two years, and applicants must meet the established income criteria.
Therefore, once eligibility is confirmed, the benefit will be deposited directly into the Caixa Tem app, following a payment schedule based on the beneficiary’s final NIS number.
