According to Federal Government forecasts, the average payments in June are expected to set a new record.

Bolsa Família, a government program, is expected to reach a historic average in June payments. According to projections by the Ministry of Social Development, Family and Fight Against Hunger, the average amount per family is expected to be R$ 714, the highest amount ever recorded in the history of the benefit.

The previous record for Bolsa Família was R$ 672.45, set in May. This recent increase is directly linked to the release of the new R$ 50 supplement, which will be distributed starting in June. The Ministry estimates that more than 24 million people will begin receiving this additional bonus next week.

The number of individuals who will receive the R$ 50 supplement exceeds the exact number of families eligible for Bolsa Família. This is because a single family can receive more than one supplement. Overall, the Federal Government expects to need to spend approximately R$ 2.1 billion monthly through the end of the year to fulfill the new supplement.

Who will benefit?

Starting in June, the Federal Government will implement two additional benefits. One is R$ 150, which has been distributed since March. The other is the R$ 50 bonus, which will begin in June. See below:

R$ 150 additional benefit

  • who receives it? children under six years of age;
  • when does it start? in March;
  • do I need to apply? no;
  • how many people receive it: approximately 9 million children.

R$ 50 additional benefit

  • who receives it? children between seven and 18 years of age, pregnant women, and breastfeeding women.
  • when does it start? in June;
  • do I need to apply? no;
  • how many people receive it: approximately 24.7 million people.

Bolsa Família additional benefits have already been authorized

It is important to emphasize that the additional benefits were officially approved by the National Congress last week. The document was endorsed by the Chamber of Deputies and the Federal Senate through symbolic votes, meaning that a roll-call vote was not necessary.

The text still needs to be sanctioned by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), but it is highly likely that the PT member will approve the text, since the Provisional Measure was proposed by the executive branch itself. Payments of the additional benefits in June are fully confirmed.

And who will not benefit from the bonus?

For families that do not fall into the groups eligible for the Bolsa Família bonus this month, there is no reason to worry. According to the Ministry of Social Development, for this group, the rules remain the same as in May.

In all cases, the rule does not change: all families in the Bolsa Família program must receive an amount of at least R$ 600. Therefore, even if the citizen does not live with underage children, pregnant women, or breastfeeding women, they will continue to receive the R$ 600 as usual.

Bolsa Família

The Bolsa Família program will resume payments starting next June 19. The exact number of people who will receive the benefit has not yet been disclosed by the Ministry of Social Development. This announcement is expected to be made in a few days.

To be eligible for Bolsa Família in June, it is necessary to have an active and up-to-date account in the Cadúnico system. In addition, it is also essential for the citizen to have a per capita income of up to R$ 218. Even citizens who meet all these requirements will still need to wait until the Ministry's system selects their names.

In May, a little over 21 million Brazilians received the Bolsa Família benefit in their accounts.
