Last Bolsa Família Payment for October Made by Caixa

Bolsa Família payments for October are almost complete. This Monday (30), Caixa Econômica Federal will make the penultimate payment of the month, benefiting another group of beneficiaries of Brazil’s main income transfer program.

Caixa began making the October payments on the 18th and will make the last one on Tuesday the 31st. Many are still waiting to receive their October installment, but that moment is rapidly approaching.

In general, Caixa makes Bolsa Família payments on the last 10 business days of each month, following the last digit of beneficiaries’ Social Identification Number (NIS). Thus, each business day, a different group gains access to its payment.

This Monday (30), those whose NIS ends in 9 will receive the Bolsa Família payment. They can use the amount through Caixa Tem. However, those who wish to withdraw the money can go to a bank to make the withdrawal.

Final Bolsa Família payments in October

The Federal Government transferred the benefit funds to Caixa in mid-October. Caixa then undertook to transfer the amounts to Bolsa Família beneficiaries. Essentially, the payments follow a schedule, with each group receiving its share on dates determined by the final digit of the NIS.

Understand the basic Bolsa Família amount

Bolsa Família has a criterion called the Citizenship Income Benefit. In short, this criterion ensures a payment of R$ 142 for each family member registered in the Single Registry (CadÚnico).

If we considered only this criterion, families with a single member would receive R$ 142 per month. In fact, families of up to four members would receive a maximum of R$ 568 per month.

However, the Federal Government establishes a minimum payment of R$ 600 per Bolsa Família beneficiary. In other words, the amount received cannot be less than this amount, except for those who previously took out the Payroll-Deducted Loan, as the discounts are applied directly to the benefit.

This means that families of up to four members, who should receive R$ 568, get a supplement, raising the amount to R$ 600.

When families have more than four members, the government does not add more, since the benefit exceeds R$ 600. For example, a family of five receives R$ 710 per month.

Other Bolsa Família benefits

In addition to the aforementioned benefit, other additional benefits increase the Bolsa Família amount. See:

Early Childhood Benefit: since March 2023, the government has paid R$ 150 per child up to six years old.

Family Variable Benefit: provides an additional R$ 50 for children and young people aged seven to 18, as well as for pregnant and breastfeeding women.

Nursing Family Variable Benefit: since September, the government has added R$ 50 for families with babies up to seven months old, helping with the child's nutrition.

A family with two adults and three children aged 2, 4, and 6, for example, receives R$ 1,160 per month.

Gas Aid

In October, many beneficiaries also receive Auxílio Gás, resumed after being paused in September and paid every two months.

It is important to note that all these transfers take place on the same date as Bolsa Família. Thus, beneficiaries receive them according to the program’s schedule.

The government reports that the average amount of the Benefits was R$ 688.97. This indicates that many received well above the base installment of R$ 600 this month, and this trend is expected to continue until the end of the year.
