The year is not over yet, but many people are already anxious to know what the minimum wage will be in 2024. Thus, to the joy of many people, Simone Tebet (MDB), Minister of Planning and Budget, made official the proposal of R$ 1,421 for next year.
So, we just have to wait to see if the proposal will be approved. If it does, the minimum wage will increase in R$ 101 in relation to the current value. See details about the proposal.
New minimum wage
Simone Tebet confirmed the amount during a press conference with Fernando Haddad (Minister of Finance). The objective of the interview was to discuss the 2024 Budget, which has already been sent to the National Congress.

Therefore, with this increase, there would be a 7.7% increase in the value of the minimum wage. It is worth noting that this proposal already incorporates the current rule of correction according to inflation.
When was the last raise?
It is important to highlight that the last real increase occurred in 2019, when the value went from R$ 954 to R$ 988. Despite this, the value was still below that predicted by the government of Michel Temer (MDB).

In 2023, President Lula defined a new adjustment, reaching the current R$ 1,320, an increase of R$ 108 compared to the 2022 value. In total, the adjustment was 8.91% and exceeded the 5.93% of inflation.
Increase in the minimum wage
There is currently a new policy to increase the minimum wage, which must be adjusted according to the inflation of the previous year plus the positive variation in GDP from the previous two years.
It is worth noting that this measure was one of the main proposals of Lula's campaign, so that there would be an increase in the value of the minimum wage during his third term. This is because in previous governments, workers were left at a loss, since the value of the minimum wage rarely exceeded inflation.
