How much does the FGTS amount yield?

The FGTS Board of Trustees approved the distribution of the amount of R$12.7 billion relating to the income generated by workers' money that is accumulated in the fund.

All workers insured by the FGTS will be entitled to receive payment in proportion to the balance available in their linked accounts. Therefore, the higher the balance, the higher the amount to be received and, if there is more than one account, the amount will be credited to all of them.

The reference value is the balance available in the account on the last day of the previous year, that is, December 31, 2022. This information can be obtained through a bank statement and based on the balance, we will calculate the profit to be received.

How to calculate FGTS profit?

It is necessary to do a simple calculation: multiply the amount existing in each FGTS account on December 31 of the previous year and multiply by 0.02461511.

Therefore, if the worker has a balance corresponding to R$10 thousand in his account, he will receive approximately R$1,000,000 in profit. Another example that can simplify this even further is that for every R$1 thousand, the income will be R$1,000,000 and thus multiplied according to the balance in the account on the date stipulated by the Board of Trustees.

Does every worker have the right to receive FGTS profits?

No, only workers who contribute to the FGTS with active or inactive accounts until the year 2022. In other words, workers who only started contributing in the year 2023 are not entitled to the profits that will be distributed.

How do I check the balance on the reference date?

The balance can be checked in two ways:

  • Through the FGTS application available for Android and iPhone and installed on the cell phone;
  • Or go in person to a Caixa Econômica Federal branch and request a statement of your account balance. Remember that if you have more than one account, you must request a statement for each one individually.

Can the worker withdraw this money at any time?

The redemption of the amount received is only permitted in the following situations:

  • Dismissal without just cause;
  • For use in financing the purchase of a home;
  • Withdrawal – birthday;
  • Retirement or due to serious illness.
