When will I receive the PIS for the 2022 base year?

The 2024 PIS (Social Integration Program) refers to the base year 2022 and many people are already unsure about when the payment will be made. However, there is still no set date for the payment of the benefit.

The PIS/PASEP calendar has been delayed since the pandemic, a period in which payments did not follow the dates. Therefore, payments are being made with a two-year interval between the base year.

Who will receive PIS in 2022?

As mentioned before, there is still no date for payment, however, to receive the PIS 2022 amount, you must have worked in a formal job for 12 months of the base year. In addition, there are other criteria such as being part of the PIS/PASEP system for at least five years and having worked with a signed contract for at least 30 days of the base year.

Another detail is that the worker must have received, in 2022, up to two minimum wages to be entitled to the benefit. Not having worked as a domestic employee is also a requirement to receive it.

It is worth noting that the value of the benefit follows the minimum wage in effect in the year of payment, and not in the base year. In other words, workers will only know the value when the government announces the value of the minimum wage next year.

How does the benefit work?

It is important to highlight that PIS is a contribution that companies pay to the public coffers. Thus, this amount is used to pay unemployment insurance and salary bonuses for workers.

In other words, the focus of the program is to transfer money to low-income workers. The PASEP It is similar, but it is only for public servants.

The truth is that these two benefits are paid in the year following the base year, but as mentioned before, due to the pandemic this is not happening. This is because there was a delay in payments and now they are made with an interval of two years between the base year.
