From January to October this year, the average price of air tickets grew 16% compared to the same period in 2022. The research was carried out by the air ticket search engine Viajala.
The study analyzed the 50 main routes in the country and found a significant average increase. See below which routes had the biggest increase according to the survey.
Which destinations have become more expensive?
According to Viajala's research, the biggest increase in the price of air tickets was from Maceió to São Paulo. The price went from R$1,902 to R$1,129, an increase of R$251,300.

Another destination that became more expensive was from Fortaleza to São Paulo, becoming 24% more than in 2022. In other words, the cost of the airfare went from R$ 925 to R$ 1,126.
According to Viajala's commercial director, Rodrigo Melo, the main reason for this increase is the lack of competition, as there are few airlines in Brazil.

The price of airline tickets has risen due to a number of factors, including the lack of competition, but the pandemic has also made the situation worse. This is because airlines need to recover the money they lost during the pandemic.
Ticket prices have been rising since 2021. A survey by Viajala highlighted that prices have increased by 50% since 2019. However, even with the higher prices, demand continues to grow.
From January to October this year the search for passages domestic airlines increased by 25% compared to the same period last year.

A new federal government program will be launched soon. Thus, the Fly Brazil, will make tickets available at R$ 200 for INSS retirees and pensioners who have an income of up to R$ 6.8 thousand.
