Banco Inter is a popular fintech among consumers. Among the many functions it offers is contactless payment (payment by approximation) without entering a password. Transactions of this type, however, have a limit of R$$ 200.
This is done as a protective measure. If the customer loses their card or it is stolen, there is no way for a third party to withdraw large amounts from the account. However, would it be possible to change this setting and alter this limit?
The answer is no. Inter informs on its official website that there is no possibility of making a change to this maximum amount. As already mentioned, the reason behind this determination is consumer safety.

How to activate contactless payment at Banco Inter
The contactless payment function is optional. You can activate and deactivate the function as you prefer. You can make these changes directly through the Inter Super App, available at Google Play (Android) and in App Store (iOS).
Within the app, go to the “Cards” section and click on the settings tab. Then look for the “Contactless” option. You will see a switch that allows you to turn the feature on or off. Change the switch according to your preference.

How contactless payment works
Contactless payment is ideal for everyday purchases. It saves customers time by not having to enter their PIN. Simply hold your card up to the machine's display to pay. Pay attention to the amount displayed on the display.
It is worth noting that although Inter's limit is R$$ 200, as stated by the bank itself, some machines can be configured to accept higher (or lower) amounts. This is also why it is important to check the amount on the display before paying.
If the machine does not have this technology, you will need to insert the card to make the payment.
