Recently, a resident of Caldas Novas, in Goiás, received an unexpected Pix of R$50,000. The amount was transferred by mistake to the resident, who returned the money despite being unemployed.

The situation happened on October 13th, and whoever transferred the money was Vinicius Eduardo Silva, from Itumbiara, south of Goiás. See more details about the situation.

What happened?

Vinicius was going to pay for a car he had bought when he mistakenly transferred the amount to another person. This happened because the seller's Pix key was a phone number, which had only one different number from Gustavo's Pix, who received the money by mistake.

Since Vinicius did not check the data, the transfer was made. Given the situation, he and his family went to the bank for help, but the institution said they could not help.

So, the alternative was to call the number and send a message. Gustavo, who received the Pix, was frightened by the number of messages and unknown calls, and even thought it was a job interview, as highlighted by G1.

He also highlighted that after reading the messages he thought he was falling for a scam, but when he saw the money in his account he understood what had happened. Gustavo stated that he returned the money immediately.

When is it possible to cancel a Pix?

It is important to highlight that situations like this do not fall within the rules of cancellation from Pix, which are:

  • Operational failure;
  • Purchase regret;
  • Fraud.

In other words, incorrect transfers are not accepted, so always be careful when making a Pix. Although it is not possible to dispute this situation in most cases, there are banks that offer insurance against this, but check what the requirements are and whether you are in fact entitled to the benefit.

Vinicius was lucky to get his money back, but he could have lost it, so be careful!
