Many people forgot to withdraw the PIS/Pasep 2023 salary bonus, which has 2021 as its base year. Thus, according to the MTE (Ministry of Labor and Employment), 153,567 of the registered people did not withdraw the amounts.
In other words, 2% of the bonuses are still available, which gives a total value of R$ 535.8 million. Therefore, see more details below.

Forgotten money
It is important to note that the money refers to the base year 2021, so to receive the amount you must have worked with a signed contract in the previous year. Another important detail is that due to the Covid-19 pandemic, payments are delayed by two years.
Furthermore, to receive the money you must have been registered with PIS/Pasep for at least five years and have your data updated in the Annual Social Information Report.
The amount varies according to the months the person worked. Therefore, only those who worked 12 months in 2021 will receive the amount of a full minimum wage. It is worth noting that Brazilians can withdraw the amount until December 28, since after this period the installments will be returned to the Workers' Support Fund.
How does PIS work?
It is important to highlight that PIS is a contribution that companies pay to the public coffers. Therefore, this amount is used to pay unemployment insurance and salary bonuses for workers.
In other words, the focus of the program is to transfer money to low-income workers. PASEP is similar, but it is only for public employees.
The truth is that these two benefits are paid in the year following the base year, but as mentioned before, due to the pandemic this is not happening. This is because there was a delay in payments and now they are made with an interval of two years between the base year.
