Nubank is one of the most popular digital banks in Brazil today. In an effort to offer consumers more security and peace of mind, the purple bank has launched a tool that helps prevent fraud: Scam Alert.

This feature is part of Nubank’s “Protection Pack”, a set of features that work to protect the customer. Basically, the Scam Alert sends an alert when you are about to make a transaction to a suspicious account.

This alert comes in the form of a pop-up that appears on your device screen before you complete a banking transaction. You will see the message “Suspected fraud detected”. To identify potentially dangerous accounts, Nu uses its internal database as well as that of the Central Bank (Bacen).

Does the Scam Alert prevent me from making a transaction?

The answer is no. Even though Nubank sends a notification warning of the possible danger, the final decision of whether or not to make the transfer is up to the user. You can simply ignore the warning and continue with the transaction if you wish.

It is also important to note that the Scam Alert is just a tool to increase your security. In other words, to have more definitive protection, consumers should try to make conscious transactions and remain alert to online fraud.

Other Nubank security features

In addition to the Scam Alert, Nubank also has a feature called Street Mode, which is also part of the bank's Protection Pack. Through it, you can set a limit for bank transactions when you are away from home.

Intelligent Defenses, another feature that is part of the protection center, act to identify atypical movements in a user's account. This feature can intervene when it detects suspicious activity.

You can find Nubank for Android and for iOS.
