Does the Gas Aid fall today with the Bolsa Família?

In 2024, the Gas Aid will be paid exclusively in February. This benefit, which is usually distributed every two months, had its most recent installment released in December. Even with this bimonthly frequency, payments will continue to follow the schedule established for Bolsa Família.

A significant change will occur in the amount of the benefit next month. As stated by the government, there will be a decrease in the amount of the Gas Aid in 2024, which will now cover 50% of the price of a 13kg gas cylinder.

Previous payments

It is important to note that this benefit covers more than 5.4 million families throughout Brazil. The granting occurs every two months, with the last one being in October. Therefore, in this context, there is great expectation regarding the amount of the next installment.

Previously, the value considered 100% of the national average price of a 13kg gas cylinder. Therefore, in December, this value was R$ 104, but, as said before, this will change soon.

Who can apply for Gas Aid?

The Gas Aid is not limited to large families or individuals enrolled in other social programs such as Bolsa Família. Individuals who live alone, whether single or without children, are also entitled to this benefit. However, it is necessary to be registered in the federal government's Single Registry (CadÚnico) to have access to the aid.

Although registration is an essential requirement, the rigorous oversight process can sometimes wrongly disqualify some individuals, but periodic government reviews allow for requalification of these individuals.
