New FGTS withdrawal: see how it works

The FGTS will undergo some changes soon, since the Ministry of Labor and Employment already has a project under analysis. Therefore, if the project receives presidential approval, it will be sent to Congress.

The idea behind the new project is to adjust the discrepancy that affected many workers who opted for the anniversary withdrawal. So, see below everything about the subject and clear up your doubts.

What happened to the FGTS?

The measure, as stated by Minister Luiz Marinho, aims to benefit workers who opted for the anniversary withdrawal in 2020. This is because at the time it was possible to take out a loan through the FGTS, anticipating future amounts.

However, according to Marinho, the workers were “deceived” because when they were fired they lost full access to the funds. In other words, these people will not be able to withdraw the amount from the Guarantee Fund for 25 months.

Therefore, the proposal is to correct this situation and guarantee these people retroactive benefits, as long as they were dismissed after 2020.

Anniversary withdrawal, what is it?

This FGTS modality is available to all workers, who can withdraw their FGTS balance in the month of their birthday. It is important to note that the modality emerged in 2019, in the first year of Jair Bolsonaro's (PL) term.

Thus, according to Caixa, this modality is quite popular among workers, since 32.7 million Brazilians have signed up for the withdrawal. The amount to be received is between 5% and 50% of the sum of the balances in the FGTS accounts.

There is also an increase relating to the additional portion linked to the balance of each worker's account.

Digital FGTS

The Minister of Labor, Luiz Marinho, highlighted the creation of the digital FGTS, which should reduce the work of companies collecting the amounts by up to 34 hours per month. Thus, with this new feature, deposits can be made via Pix and there will be more transparency in the process.
