November: Bolsa Família offers an extra payment of more than R$4,000 to some beneficiaries

How is the Bolsa Família amount determined?

This additional payment arises from a recent government initiative. Now, each family member has the possibility of receiving R$ 142. For families with earnings below R$ 600, the government is committed to supplementing the amount, ensuring that all receive at least R$ 600 per month.

Additionally, the government allocates R$ 150 for children up to 6 years old and R$ 50 for children over 7 years old, adolescents under 18, pregnant women, and breastfeeding mothers. These amounts, being cumulative, provide vital assistance to the poorest families. The government, in turn, commits to reviewing these amounts every two years.

How to access overdue Bolsa Família payments?

Previously, Bolsa Família beneficiaries had to go to a Caixa Econômica Federal branch, presenting an identity document to access the program’s funds. Alternatively, they could use the Bolsa Família card/Citizen Card at electronic terminals.

However, the MDS (Ministry of Development and Social Assistance) introduced a change to this process, aiming to facilitate the receipt of the amounts owed. According to Caroline Augusta Paranayba Evangelista, director of one of the ministry’s Secretariats, this change optimizes the system.

The Ministry of Development and Social Assistance implemented a feature that automatically transfers overdue Bolsa Família payments to the bank account of the person responsible for the family as soon as the amount becomes available. This measure aims to avoid long queues at Caixa Econômica Federal branches.

Expectations of an adjustment for Brazilian families

This news has sparked speculation about a possible adjustment to the monthly payment. Wellington Dias, Minister of the MDS, suggested in an interview that this increase could occur next year.

In addition, according to the government’s schedule, the November Bolsa Família payment will begin on the 17th and end on the 30th, following the order of the last digit of each participant’s NIS (Social Identification Number).

In October, the Auxílio-Gás payment was also made, with beneficiaries receiving an average amount equivalent to the average price of a 13 kg cylinder of cooking gas. This assistance is provided every two months, so it will not be active in November. Finally, the MDS has already announced the deadlines for updating data if your benefit is paused, to prevent suspensions or cancellations.
