Bolsa Família represents Brazil's most prominent social program, benefiting millions of families with monthly incomes limited to R$ 600. Previously replaced by Auxílio Brasil during Jair Bolsonaro's administration, the program resumed its activities in March of the current year.

Within this context, Bolsa Família registrations underwent rigorous scrutiny, which identified 1.2 million families receiving benefits without due eligibility, culminating in multiple cancellations.
Another special focus of the government was on families consisting of a single member. It was observed that the number of these families exceeded the acceptable standard, raising suspicions of irregularities.
These suspicions were confirmed, as it was discovered that many of these individual records belonged to people already listed under other families in the program. This led the government to modify the guidelines for such records.

In cases of suspension or cancellation of Bolsa Família, the affected family should contact the nearest Social Assistance Reference Center (CRAS). At the CRAS, they can obtain detailed information about the reason for the interruption and seek a solution. Often, the suspension occurs due to failure to update the registration or failure to comply with certain rules.
Therefore, to continue receiving the benefits, Bolsa Família participants must comply with all the established rules. This includes respecting the stipulated income limit and promptly updating any changes to the data in the Cadastro Único.
It is also essential to meet requirements such as vaccination, prenatal care for pregnant women, and ensuring that children and adolescents attend school.
Reasons for the interruption of the assistance
Income is the fundamental criterion for eligibility for Bolsa Família, where the monthly income per family member cannot exceed R$ 218.
However, the program may suspend or cancel the benefit if the family:
- Does not update its information in the Cadastro Único within the specified deadline;
- Does not ensure the minimum school attendance of children and adolescents;
- Does not carry out health monitoring for children under 7 years old, such as appointments and vaccinations;
- Does not report changes of address or family composition.

It is worth mentioning that, in certain situations, the income of the beneficiary family may exceed the limit while receiving Bolsa Família. In this scenario, and according to the protection rule, the payments continue, but are reduced by half for a period of up to 24 months.
