Last Thursday (24), Congressman Alencar Santana (PT) presented the report on the program's project. He stated that the content follows the initial idea, with some minor modifications. Santana also announced that the next stage of the project will begin in September, targeting a specific income group.
The “Desenrola” program is divided into two phases, each aimed at different salary ranges. In this initial phase, it is aimed at people with salaries between R$2,640 and R$20,000 who have debts with banks. Agreements are made directly with the banks involved, establishing a clear and open channel between debtor and creditor.

The next phase, scheduled for September, focuses on individuals with incomes of up to two minimum wages or registered in the Single Registry. For this group, the program allows the renegotiation of debts up to R$1,000 through a digital platform created by the government.
One particularity of “Desenrola” is that banks are required to cancel debts below R$1,400 from debtors. However, these debtors must settle these amounts later. This measure aims to provide immediate relief for those facing financial challenges.

The project, in addition to resolving debt, also tackles one of the main causes of debt: credit card interest. Deputy Alencar Santana mentioned that the Provisional Measure linked to “Desenrola” establishes a ceiling of 100% for card interest, unless banks present an alternative within 90 days.
This action reacts to the current interest rate, which is already over 400%. This phenomenon has made revolving credit one of the most expensive credits available.
“Desenrola” emerges as a breath of fresh air in the scenario of growing debt in Brazil, proposing ways to facilitate renegotiation and regulate banking practices that lead to default.
This project will have a profound impact on the financial lives of millions, while also posing new challenges for banks. The next phase, which begins in September, generates great expectations, as it will determine the success of the proposals. Therefore, it is essential that the population remains well informed and aware of the opportunities presented by this innovative policy.

Unfortunately, “Desenrola Brasil” has been used for illicit practices, also involving Nubank. These scams are exploiting the association between the two entities, harming many customers. Fraudsters use this relationship to deceive victims.
In these actions, scammers contact customers, promising to settle debts for a much smaller amount. This attracts the attention of many.
By continuing, customers try, for example, to pay a debt of R$5,000 for R$1,000 and so on. In the end, they end up being deceived. It is worth noting that Nubank does not make these types of contacts, which are, in fact, actions by fraudsters.
The program has been facing fraudulent attacks for some time now. In light of this, Nubank has taken action to alert its customers about the risks and provide prevention tips. Customer prudence and information are crucial to protecting against such fraud.
