In July, some single mothers may have access to amounts exceeding one minimum wage. See more details.

In one week, the Federal Government plans to officially resume disbursements from the Bolsa Família program. Around 21 million individuals are expected to be entitled to receive the funds in their bank accounts. Some of these beneficiaries are curious to know whether there will be any special provision for single mothers this time.

This question is not a recent one. Several beneficiaries argue that single mothers should receive more significant amounts through Bolsa Família. After all, these women generally have more expenses to support their children. In addition, finding work and generating income is a greater challenge for them.

It is not unprecedented

Let us remember that during 2020, single mothers had a similar distinction. At that time, the Federal Government made payments of R$ 600 from the Emergency Aid to its beneficiaries and R$ 1,200 to these single mothers. In the second half of the year, the amount decreased to R$ 300 for ordinary beneficiaries and R$ 600 for single mothers.

Proposed legislation

There are some bills in the National Congress that plan to approve a base salary of R$ 1,200 for single mothers. However, these proposals still need to pass through the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate. In addition, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva needs to sanction these measures.

Will single mothers receive R$ 1,200 in July?

The only payment scheduled for single mothers this July is Bolsa Família. The program's current rules do not provide for a doubled payment for this group. However, in some cases, these women may receive higher amounts, even exceeding R$ 1,200.

By default, Bolsa Família grants minimum payments of R$ 600 per family. This means that all beneficiaries should receive this amount, regardless of gender. Based on this, the amounts may increase depending on other aspects of the family.

Example:

Consider the case of a mother with two children, one two years old and the other 12 years old, totaling three people in the family. In this case, the family is entitled to R$ 600. But there are still additional amounts.

According to the rules, this family may receive an additional R$ 150 for the two-year-old child and an additional R$ 50 for the 12-year-old child. Therefore, they may receive R$ 800 this July.

Bolsa Família in July

In July, Bolsa Família payments by the Federal Government are expected to resume on the 18th. As in previous months, the plan is to release the funds based on the last digit of each beneficiary’s Social Identification Number (NIS). Those with an NIS ending in 1 receive their payment on the 18th, while those with an NIS ending in 2 receive theirs on the 19th, and so on.
