Caixa Econômica Federal will announce the distribution of R$ 15 billion to Brazilians in August. Check whether you are entitled!
By the end of August this year, the profit from the Severance Indemnity Fund (FGTS) will be distributed to workers who had a balance in the FGTS on December 31, 2022. The distribution of this amount will be carried out by Caixa Econômica Federal. However, withdrawal will only be possible in accordance with the situations provided for by law.

The percentage to be distributed to workers will be determined by the FGTS Board of Trustees, composed of representatives of workers, companies, and the government. Although the total profit amount has not yet been disclosed, it is estimated to reach R$ 15 billion.
Distribution of FGTS profit
Last year, the FGTS made a profit of R$ 13.3 billion, of which 99% was distributed by the board. As a result, workers received R$ 13.2 billion, corresponding to a distribution rate of 0.02748761. In other words, for every R$ 100.00 held in the fund on December 31, the worker received R$ 2.75.
Although a meeting is scheduled for June 20, it is unlikely that the issue of FGTS profits will be addressed, probably being left for discussion only on July 25. In the previous year, the decision on the distribution was made in July, and the payment was released a few days after the decision, ahead of the established deadline.
When will it be possible to withdraw FGTS profits?
Although FGTS is a worker's right and, therefore, the distributed profit is as well, as mentioned previously, withdrawal will only be allowed in situations provided for by law. This includes dismissal without just cause, birthday withdrawal, purchasing one's own home, retirement, and serious illness. However, you can check your FGTS balance by following the steps below:
- Access the FGTS app (available for Android and iOS) and log in with your credentials;
- Select “View all your accounts”;
- Click “View Statement”.
Caixa Econômica Federal stated that as soon as the FGTS Governing Council makes a decision on the distribution of the profit, the information will be published on Caixa's official website and also on the FGTS website.
