On Monday (28), Caixa Econômica Federal makes the August payment to a particular segment of Bolsa Família beneficiaries. However, many beneficiaries are eagerly awaiting this assistance, although the August schedule is almost complete, covering all program participants.

Last Saturday (26), Bolsa Família members with a Social Identification Number (NIS) ending in 7 received great news. Specifically, Caixa Econômica brought forward the August payment for two groups that would have received the credit on Monday. Thus, they were able to receive the assistance early over the weekend.

In summary, those with an NIS ending in 7 have already accessed their Bolsa Família amounts since Saturday (26). The funds have been available since the weekend, even though the official schedule indicated that the credit would only be made on Monday (28).

Basically, Caixa Econômica resumes Bolsa Família payments for users on Monday (28), after the weekend break. Payments take place on the last 10 business days of the month, according to the last digit of the NIS. Therefore, a new group accesses the amount in their accounts every business day.

This Monday (28), members with an NIS ending in 7 will receive the credit for the new Bolsa Família installment. They can check the amount through Caixa Tem. However, those who wish to withdraw it in cash can go to a bank.

Below is the Bolsa Família payment schedule for August 2023:

  • NIS ending in 1: August 18 (RELEASED);
  • NIS ending in 2: August 21 (RELEASED);
  • NIS ending in 3: August 22 (RELEASED);
  • NIS ending in 4: August 23 (RELEASED);
  • NIS ending in 5: August 24 (RELEASED);
  • NIS ending in 6: August 25 (RELEASED);
  • NIS ending in 7: August 28 (RELEASED);
  • NIS ending in 8: August 29;
  • NIS ending in 9: August 30;
  • NIS ending in 0: August 31.

The bank still needs to make the payment to the program’s final three groups. Deposits will continue until August 31 and will only resume during the last ten business days of September.

In essence, the Federal Government allocated R$ 14.25 billion for the August installment of Bolsa Família. According to government data, 21.14 million beneficiaries receive an average of R$ 686.04 during this period, an amount considerably above the minimum stipulated by the program.

What is the minimum guaranteed by Bolsa Família?

The government guarantees a base payment of R$ 600 per Bolsa Família beneficiary. However, there is another criterion in the program, the Citizenship Income Benefit. Essentially, this criterion guarantees R$ 142 per family member registered in the Single Registry (CadÚnico).

Focusing only on this criterion, one-person families would receive R$ 142 per month. However, since the minimum is R$ 600, the government supplements the amount. This applies to families of up to four members, who would receive a maximum of R$ 568 (R$ 142 x 4 = R$ 568) per month.

When households have more than four people, there is no supplement, as the total exceeds R$ 600. For example, a group of five people receives R$ 710 per month (R$ 142 x 5 = R$ 710). If there are ten members, the amount rises to R$ 1,420 (R$ 142 x 10 = R$ 1,420).

Other benefits increase the total amount

Even with an established base amount, the program does not limit the maximum that can be received. Therefore, many receive more than R$ 600, especially recently, with the addition of extra benefits.

Check out the additional Bolsa Família benefits:

  • Early Childhood Benefit: starting in March 2023, the government began crediting R$ 150 for each child up to six years old.
  • Family Variable Benefit: guarantees a supplement of R$ 50 for children and adolescents between seven and 18 years old, as well as for pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers who are part of the household.

A family made up of two adults and three children, aged 2, 4, and 6, will receive not only the base amount of R$ 600, but also an additional R$ 150 for each child up to six years old (R$ 150 x 3 = R$ 450). Thus, the benefit amount will reach R$ 1,050 for the month (R$ 600 + R$ 450).

In addition to the benefits mentioned, the government also offers Auxílio-Gás to vulnerable families. Created in 2021 during the term of former president Jair Bolsonaro, the benefit remains active in 2023 under the Lula administration.

In summary, the government covers 100% of the average price of a 13kg gas cylinder. This eases the family budget for gas. In August, the R$ 108 installment is deposited, bearing in mind that Auxílio-Gás is paid every two months.

In conclusion, the payments for all these benefits coincide with the Bolsa Família payment date. Thus, those entitled to the benefits access the amounts according to the schedule of the country’s main social program.
