Recently, the Court released a new batch of payments in the amount of R$21.1 billion for approximately 130,000 retirees and pensioners who won lawsuits against the National Institute of Social Security (INSS). Thus, these INSS arrears correspond to Small Value Requests (RPV), whose value is up to 60 minimum wages (R$84,720).

Therefore, this court decision aims to guarantee the rights of beneficiaries and provide them with fair compensation for any losses.

In short, lawsuits against the INSS are generally related to issues such as benefit reviews, payment delays, denial of claims and other problems faced by Social Security beneficiaries. Beneficiaries often resort to the courts in search of a solution to these issues.

How will INSS arrears be paid?

Therefore, according to the Federal Justice Council (CJF), INSS arrears are deposited into accounts opened by each Federal Regional Court (TRF), which may be at Banco do Brasil or CAIXA Econômica Federal, in the name of the beneficiaries. Therefore, the date on which the amount will be released must be checked on the website of the responsible TRF.

Furthermore, it is important to highlight that the heirs of deceased beneficiaries may also have access to payment of INSS arrears, for which it is necessary to prove the family relationship. Thus, 130,408 retirees and pensioners who won 99,709 lawsuits against INSS are being covered.
