This Friday (29), Caixa Econômica Federal will proceed with the last deposit of the September installment of Bolsa Família. Beneficiaries with a Social Identification Number (NIS) ending in zero have been waiting with expectation to receive the benefit amount for this month.
In fact, this group of beneficiaries is probably already used to this long wait, as they are always the last in line to receive their benefits. This is because Bolsa Família payments are made in the last 10 business days of each month, based on the final NIS number of the beneficiaries. Therefore, every day, a new group of people can access the amount in their accounts.
Those enrolled in the program have the option to check the amount of the September installment through the Caixa Tem app. However, for those who prefer to withdraw cash, it is necessary to go to a Caixa branch.

Caixa Completes Payment to Last Set of Policyholders
Caixa began disbursing the September installment of Bolsa Família on the previous day, the 18th. Transfers end today (29) and will only resume in the second half of October, in line with the program's usual payment order.
See below the Bolsa Família payment schedule for September 2023:
- NIS ending 1: September 18th (RELEASED);
- NIS ending 2: September 19th (RELEASED);
- NIS ending 3: September 20th (RELEASED);
- NIS ending 4: September 21st (RELEASED);
- NIS ending in 5: September 22nd (RELEASED);
- NIS ending in 6: September 25th (RELEASED);
- NIS ending in 7: September 26th (RELEASED);
- NIS ending in 8: September 27th (RELEASED);
- NIS ending in 9: September 28th (RELEASED);
- NIS ending in 0: September 29th (RELEASED).
The NIS enables the Federal Government to identify beneficiaries of social benefits in Brazil. Therefore, keeping documents up to date and updating information whenever necessary is vital to avoid possible cancellations of Bolsa Família.
Registration in CadÚnico for Bolsa Família
With September payments coming to an end, Bolsa Família will continue to support low-income families in the coming months. Those who wish to join the program should check the requirements to confirm whether they are eligible for the aid.
Firstly, it is important to emphasize that the government has several mechanisms to recognize and classify low-income Brazilians, the most notable being the Single Registry (CadÚnico), managed by the Ministry of Development and Social Assistance, Family and Fight against Hunger (MDS).

CadÚnico facilitates enrollment in various social programs in Brazil, such as Bolsa Família. However, registration does not grant direct access to the programs, as each one has its own specific guidelines for the inclusion of new beneficiaries.
Therefore, registration with CadÚnico does not guarantee instant admission to social programs. However, to be eligible for benefits, it is essential to be registered with Cadastro Único.
Procedures for Registration in CadÚnico
CadÚnico was established with the purpose of integrating low-income families into welfare programs. Therefore, only citizens who meet this condition can register to receive social benefits.
- Families with a monthly income of up to half the minimum wage per person (R$ 660);
- Families with a total monthly income of up to 3 minimum wages (R$ 3,960);
- Families with a monthly income of more than half the minimum wage per person, but who are linked to or seeking to remain in a program or benefit that uses the Single Registry in its concessions;
- People who live on the streets, either alone or with their family.
To register in the government data system, the applicant must go to a Social Assistance Reference Center (CRAS) or a Single Registry office. There, he or she will be interviewed about the composition of the family unit.
Documents to take to CRAS
A visit to CRAS is essential to ask questions about income, expenses and details of the residence and family members. Honesty in your answers is crucial to avoid suspension of benefits in situations where information is inconsistent.

At the CRAS or at the Cadastro Único location, the person in charge of the family must bring their CPF or voter registration card to register. For other family members, the person in charge must show one of the following documents:
- Birth certificate;
- Marriage Certificate;
- CPF;
- ID card;
- Work Card;
- Voter Registration Card.
Following the interview, the individual will obtain a Social Identification Number (NIS), if they do not already have one. Only with the NIS are families able to join social programs through CadÚnico.
Criteria for Obtaining Bolsa Família
During the conversation at CRAS, one of the most crucial aspects concerns the earnings of those involved. This element is essential for admission to Bolsa Família, since only families with a maximum income of R$1,218 per person meet the earnings condition for social assistance.
For example, a family of four members, which has a monthly income of R$ 1,000, will not be covered by Bolsa Família, since the per capita income is R$ 250 (R$ 1,000/4 = R$ 250).
However, if the monthly income is R$ 800, divided by four members, the individual income will be R$ 200 (R$ 800/4 = R$ 200), that is, below the limit value of R$ 218. In this situation, the family will be eligible to start receiving the benefit.
