Last Friday, September 29, Caixa Econômica Federal made the most recent Bolsa Família payment, reaching 21.47 million families throughout Brazil. With the end of 2022 approaching, many are eagerly waiting to find out whether they will be able to count on a 13th Bolsa Família payment next year, 2023.
In 2019, the Bolsa Família 13th payment was made for the only time. Since then, this bonus has not been paid again. However, with the recent changes to Bolsa Família, such as new amounts and criteria in 2023, expectations regarding the 13th payment have once again become a topic of interest.

13th Bolsa Família payment
Since taking office in January, many people have questioned the government of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva about the 13th Benefit payment. However, recent statements from the Ministry of Social Development (MDS) indicate that this payment will not be made.
The first indication that the government would not provide the 13th payment emerged in March, during press conferences about updates to the program. On one of these occasions, Letícia Bartholo, secretary of the MDS, mentioned that, in the government’s view, Bolsa Família, being an assistance program, does not provide for a 13th payment.
She emphasized that “the new design of the program provides a fairer and more appropriate per capita payment, surpassing the previous version of Bolsa Família and Auxílio Brasil. Therefore, we see no need for a 13th payment, as the program already adequately meets the population’s needs”.
As a result, the possibility of a 13th payment in 2023 for Bolsa Família beneficiaries appears to have been ruled out by the current administration. This fact has generated various discussions among politicians and society, as many were expecting this bonus at the end of the year.
Enrollment in the social program
Bolsa Família represents an instrument for combating poverty and extreme poverty, providing monthly financial assistance to families approved for the program and positively impacting their lives.

To participate, it is essential to register with the Single Registry for Social Programs of the Federal Government (CadÚnico). This registration not only facilitates access to the Benefit but also to other social programs.
