This Friday (16), the Minister of Cities, Jader Rocha, said that President Lula plans to expand the “Minha Casa, Minha Vida” program. Therefore, the government is conducting internal studies with other government officials to enable the benefit to be expanded to families with a monthly income of up to R$ 12,000.
The President of the Republic revealed this possibility in his first weekly broadcast on social media this week. According to the Minister, the strategy to serve this income bracket is being discussed by the Ministry of Cities, the Civil House, and Caixa Econômica Federal, which is responsible for the Service Time Guarantee Fund (FGTS).
“Minha Casa, Minha Vida” could benefit more families
Rocha told journalists at an event hosted by the Esfera group that if the new phase is viable, property prices may also increase; they may be financed between R$ 350,000 and R$ 500,000, potentially reaching up to R$ 600,000. The Minister also stated that new contracts for the housing projects have already begun. The information was detailed in the program's final ordinance.
The details of the projects will be published in the Official Gazette of the Union this Friday (16). Therefore, businesspeople, mayors, and Cohabs, public housing companies, can already submit their projects. After the review, the Ministry will enter into the contracts.
Additional comments from Jader Rocha
The Minister also explained that, initially, the measure is aimed at projects funded by FAR (Residential Leasing Fund), which serves municipalities and state governments. The homes that have already been built will also be used.
In the case of new buildings and residential developments, not only will the internal area be built, but the surrounding area will also be improved, with street renovations and the construction of schools and health centers to meet all the needs of the population benefiting from the program.
