Exclusion from Bolsa Família Leaves Brazilians Emotional

In light of recent changes, many beneficiaries will lose their payments. In a scenario filled with economic and social instability affecting many households in Brazil, an Update to the Bolsa Família Policy has emerged. This update brings some relief to several families.

Contrary to fears that family members entering the job market would cause the loss of the benefit, the update guarantees continued payments under specific circumstances. But how exactly does this work, and what are the implications for Bolsa Família users?

Will Bolsa Família cut some beneficiaries?

The Safeguard Policy, established in June according to data from the Ministry of Citizenship, protects families when their members find employment. This inevitably increases household income.

Instead of cutting the benefit, the program allows these households to receive half the amount for up to two years. However, to be eligible, all family members must have an income that does not exceed half the minimum wage, now set at R$ 660.

The logic behind this calculation becomes clear in the example of a household with six people, with two workers earning minimum wage. With a total income of R$ 2,640 and dividing this amount by the total number of members (six), the per capita income is R$ 440. This situation meets the criteria for receiving half the amount of Bolsa Família for two years.

However, the Safeguard Policy goes further. It also provides additional guarantees. If a family loses its income over time or chooses to leave the program, it can go to CRAS (Social Assistance Reference Center) to update its financial situation and resume receiving the full Bolsa Família benefit.

In July, this guidance helped approximately 2.2 million households, with nearly 1.46 million households being added through the integration of program data with the National Registry of Social Information (CNIS). The average benefit that month was R$ 378.91.

Crucial points

It is worth noting that half of the amount includes additional payments for children, teenagers, and pregnant women in the beneficiary household. The period during which this status remains in effect is counted from the date the income is updated in CadÚnico. It is important to remember that this system is vital for keeping the data used by the government up to date.

This safeguard in the program indicates a more holistic and empathetic approach to the complex economic situations experienced by many people in Brazil. Instead of punishing those who obtain job opportunities, it encourages economic advancement. Thus, it offers support to those seeking to improve their financial situation.

In times of constant challenges, the program's ability to adapt to the ever-changing needs of its users demonstrates the government's commitment to supporting the most vulnerable. The Safeguard Policy is a step forward toward a social support system that recognizes and responds to the complex relationships between work, income, and state assistance, bringing stability and hope to millions of Brazilians.

The new Bolsa Família amounts have surprised everyone. Considering that many Brazilians are about to receive them, the amounts may exceed R$ 1,000. This is noteworthy, considering that the base amount is R$ 600.

There are additional payments of R$ 150 for children from zero to six years old. Pregnant and breastfeeding women receive an additional R$ 50. In addition, young people from seven to eighteen years old receive an extra R$ 50. Adding all these additional payments, the amounts may reach R$ 1,000.

In August, the Auxílio-Gás payment is also scheduled. An additional R$ 110 will go to millions of families. More than ever, the program has been a strong ally for families in Brazil.

All that remains now is to wait for the scheduled dates and collect the benefits. Payments will take place between August 18 and 31.
