Criteria for accessing Bolsa Família

First, it is crucial to understand the requirements for benefiting from Bolsa Família. Only those who meet all the regulations are entitled to the monthly payments.

One of the main rules is being classified as living in poverty or extreme poverty. Therefore, the family's monthly income per person cannot exceed R$ 218. In other words, by adding up everyone's earnings in the household and dividing them by the number of residents, the amount cannot exceed this limit.

Additionally, registration with CadÚnico (the Federal Government's Single Registry for Social Benefits), a platform that consolidates data on lower-income families in Brazil, is mandatory.

To register, the head of the family must go to the nearest CRAS (Social Assistance Reference Center), bringing their documents and those of all household members.

Maintenance requirements

Once enrolled in the Bolsa Família program, it is essential to observe other regulations. The so-called conditionalities are health and education responsibilities that beneficiaries must comply with. Let's take a look:

The CadÚnico must be updated whenever there are changes to family information, such as variations in income or family composition. In addition, regardless of changes, the registration must be renewed every two years;
Children's, adolescents' and pregnant women's vaccination records must be kept up to date;
Children between 4 and 5 years old must attend school at least 60% of school days;
From the age of 6, this attendance rate increases to 75%;
Pregnant women must undergo prenatal care;
Women and children up to 7 years old must receive regular nutritional monitoring.

And can single men benefit from Bolsa Família?

In fact, single men can benefit from Bolsa Família if they meet all the criteria, regardless of whether they have dependents. See the registration steps:

First, go to the CRAS bringing personal documents, such as an ID, CPF, proof of residence and income, as well as the documents of the other residents;
Next, complete your registration in CadÚnico, correctly entering your personal and family information and financial situation;
Then, wait for the assessment by the Ministry of Citizenship and the subsequent selection for the program;
If selected, you will receive a Bolsa Família card via Correios or pick it up at the nearest Caixa Econômica Federal branch;
Done! Now, you can withdraw the benefit monthly, according to the Benefit calendar, which considers the last digit of your NIS (Social Identification Number).
