As we move toward an increasingly digital society, bank transfers have solidified as a standard method for most Brazilians, whether to settle bills, make purchases, or simply transfer money to another person. However, with this convenience comes the risk of errors.
Errors in bank transfers
In the rush of everyday life, it is not uncommon for Brazilians to encounter mistakes in transfers. Therefore, a simple typo can mean sending an amount to an unexpected account or sending an unintended amount. It is a situation that has affected many people, and it is essential to know how to reverse these errors, if possible.

How to handle errors in different transfer methods
DOC: DOC, or Credit Document, is one of the traditional transfer methods. With a limit of R$ 4,999.99, the amount is credited to the destination account on the next business day. If an error is detected in time, there is a window to correct it.
This way, you can cancel the transaction until 4 p.m. on the day of the instruction, using the bank’s app or in person at a branch. And for those DOCs that are already scheduled, you have until 11:59 p.m. on the day before the planned date to cancel them.
TED: A Transfer Available Electronic Transfer, or TED, differs from DOC mainly because it has no maximum transaction amount. In addition, it is processed on the same day. If the TED instruction is made after 5 p.m. or on non-business days, it will only take place on the next business day.
For these operations, cancellation is possible, but it is necessary to act quickly. Cancellation can be requested through the app or directly with the bank until 11:59 p.m. on the day before it is processed.
Pix: Pix has revolutionized the way Brazilians transfer money due to its instant nature. However, this speed also means that once the money leaves the account, it immediately reaches the recipient’s account.
This makes cancellation impossible. The alternative in this case is to contact the recipient directly and request a refund, hoping that the person will be understanding.
The importance of being precise in transfers
Technology has made financial transactions faster and more convenient. However, attention to detail is crucial. Knowing how each transfer method works and its correction mechanisms can be the key to correcting or at least mitigating mistakes made.
