A record was set by Bolsa Família in June 2023. The Federal Government announced that the average benefit amount had reached the highest level ever seen in the program’s history, even before the transfers began. This intensified beneficiaries’ expectations, as they were eager to gain access to the available resources.

In short, the government makes a minimum payment of R$ 600 per family. However, the amount of Bolsa Família varies according to the number of family members. Therefore, if there are more individuals in the families, the amount received will be higher. Nevertheless, there are rules stipulating the amounts paid.

According to the new rules, Bolsa Família guarantees a payment of R$ 142 per individual in the beneficiary family. When families consist of only one person, the amount is supplemented by the government, reaching the minimum payment of R$ 600.

It is important to emphasize that the income transfer program has another rule that benefits recipients. Although the minimum amount is R$ 600, this payment may increase depending on the number of family members.

Therefore, families with more members will receive R$ 142 per individual, and the amount may exceed the benefit’s minimum payment. Below, see the minimum amounts received by families, without taking payroll loan deductions into account:

Families with 1 person: R$ 600;

Families with 2 people: R$ 600;

Families with 3 people: R$ 600;

Families with 4 people: R$ 600;

Families with 5 people: R$ 710;

Families with 6 people: R$ 852;

Families with 7 people: R$ 994;

Families with 8 people: R$ 1,136;

Families with 9 people: R$ 1,278;

Families with 10 people: R$ 1,420.

Payroll loan deduction from Auxílio Brasil

During former president Jair Bolsonaro’s administration, Bolsa Família was discontinued and replaced by Auxílio Brasil. However, with the return of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) to power, Bolsa Família was reactivated, with new rules in effect.

In October of last year, the Auxílio Brasil payroll loan was officially launched. In short, the payroll loan for Auxílio Brasil beneficiaries (now Bolsa Família) allowed loan installments to be automatically deducted from their paychecks or benefits.

Thus, beneficiaries of the social program who took out the loan have the amount deducted directly from their benefit payment. This continues to occur because the number of installments tends to be quite high, meaning that users will spend a long time repaying the loan.

In these cases of taking out a payroll-deducted loan, the minimum amounts paid to Bolsa Família families are as follows:

Families with 1 person: R$ 440;

Families with 2 people: R$ 440;

Families with 3 people: R$ 440;

Families with 4 people: R$ 440;

Families with 5 people: R$ 550;

Families with 6 people: R$ 692;

Families with 7 people: R$ 834;

Families with 8 people: R$ 976;

Families with 9 people: R$ 1,118;

Families with 10 people: R$ 1,260.

In summary, the deductions cannot cause families' benefits to fall below the amounts mentioned. Thus, the income of Bolsa Família beneficiaries is not as heavily affected by loan deductions.

Incidentally, the payroll-deducted loan from Auxílio Brasil, whose operations Caixa Econômica suspended in February this year, was criticized several times by the Lula government.

Additional benefits increase the Bolsa Família amount

In June, the Bolsa Família benefit amount reached the highest level in history due to the addition of extra benefits paid to beneficiaries. In short, the government had already begun paying R$ 150 per child up to six years of age in March of this year, increasing the benefit amount.

This month, the government began paying other additional benefits to families receiving Bolsa Família. For those who do not know, people enrolled in the social program who have a child or adolescent between seven and 18 years old in their family began receiving an additional R$ 50.

Likewise, the government also began paying an additional R$ 50 for pregnant and breastfeeding women in the families of Bolsa Família beneficiaries.

Families that were already receiving the additional R$ 150 per child up to six years of age wanted to know whether they would be entitled to the additional amounts for pregnant women, breastfeeding women, and children and adolescents aged 7 to 18, and the answer was YES!

Payment schedule in June

Payment of the June installment of the social program began on the 19th, according to the Federal Government’s schedule. This Wednesday (28), another group of Bolsa Família beneficiaries received their benefit payment. These transfers will continue until Friday (30), when the government will make the payment to the last group of beneficiaries in June.

It is worth remembering that the transfers take place according to the last digit of users’ Social Identification Number (NIS). Families benefiting from the program receive the amount through Caixa Econômica Federal, at the bank’s branches or through the Caixa Tem app.

The NIS is what allows the Federal Government to identify citizens who receive social benefits in the country. Since the transfers take place according to the last digit of the NIS, a new group has

access to the amount in their accounts every business day each month.

See below the Bolsa Família payment schedule for June 2023:

NIS ending in 1: June 19 (RELEASED);

NIS ending in 2: June 20 (RELEASED);

NIS ending in 3: June 21 (RELEASED);

NIS ending in 4: June 22 (RELEASED);

NIS ending in 5: June 23 (RELEASED);

NIS ending in 6: June 26 (RELEASED);

NIS ending in 7: June 27 (RELEASED);

NIS ending in 8: June 28 (RELEASED);

NIS ending in 9: June 29;

NIS ending in 0: June 30.

The program’s payment schedule distributes the transfers over the last business days of each month, following the final NIS number, beginning with number 1 and ending with number 0.

Thus, beneficiaries whose NIS ends in 8 received the June installment of Bolsa Família this Wednesday (28).
