Unroll: Federal initiative to help negotiate debts
The federal program Desenrola, in its first four weeks, renegotiated more than R$8.1 billion in citizens' debts. The Brazilian Federation of Banks (Febraban) revealed this information this Wednesday (16), referring to the period between July 17 and August 11.
Furthermore, Febraban reported that, during this Desenrola period, 1.296 million contracts were agreed upon, benefiting and clearing the names of 985 thousand clients throughout Brazil. The number of contracts exceeds the number of people, since a single person can have several contracts.
In addition to these statistics, Febraban mentioned that more than 5 million individuals with debts of up to R$100 in institutions had their restrictions removed. Although these debts persist, these citizens now have easier access to the credit market.

“The success of Desenrola is evident and celebrates a victory for banks, government and community. The massive adoption, especially in Band 2, anticipates the positive impact expected for September with Band 1”, commented Isaac Sidney, president of Febraban.

The federal government projects the negotiation of approximately R$50 billion in debts through Desenrola by the end of 2023. This was the estimate shared by the Minister of Finance, Fernando Haddad (PT), in a recent interview.
“Brazilians value the importance of keeping their name clean. However, with current interest rates, this becomes a challenge,” the minister noted.
“For the first time, the government is implementing a robust program to solve this issue and enable a return to consumption in a balanced way,” he highlighted.
Segmentation of the Unroll
The Desenrola program covers two specific groups:
Band 1: Individuals with income up to two minimum wages who accumulated debts up to R$1,000 by December 31, 2022;
Band 2: People with income up to R$ 20 and debts exclusively with financial institutions until December 31, 2022.
Currently, Desenrola's focus is on people in Faixa 2. Service to Faixa 1 will begin in September, and the federal government hopes that this stage will reach an even greater number of citizens.

For the next phase of Desenrola, the government intends to launch an official app. Although the details are not yet clear, there is already a general idea about its functionality for Faixa 1:
Download: The free app will be available for Android and iOS in the respective app stores.
Account creation: The user will access the site via CPF, integrating with the gov.br system. If necessary, they can create a new account.
List of debts: The application will allow you to view all debts and discounts proposed by creditors, facilitating decision-making.
Payment via Pix: The app will allow you to pay off debts via Pix, or, if you prefer, pay in installments with interest of up to 1.99% per month.
Fraud Alert
Until the official app is released, it is crucial that Track 1 participants avoid downloading fake apps related to Desenrola. Recently, scammers have been exploiting this situation to deceive many individuals.
