Caixa will pay compensation to Brazilians after a court order. Find out why these individuals are receiving this compensation.

The court in the first instance decided that Caixa Econômica Federal must compensate millions of Brazilians. According to the ruling, Caixa, the Union and other government entities are obliged to pay R$15,000 to several citizens.

The Federal Public Ministry, together with the entity Sigilo, pointed out the leak of information regarding millions of beneficiaries of Auxílio Brasil in 2022. Therefore, details such as address, telephone contact, amount of aid and NIS became public.

The trial is still ongoing

Although citizens are entitled to compensation from Caixa, payment will not be immediate. The reason is that legal action against the bank is still ongoing and, in addition, Caixa has already filed an appeal against the first instance verdict.

Therefore, payment will only be made if Caixa's conviction is confirmed and after the legal process has been definitively concluded.
