Rio Grande do Sul is facing the consequences of heavy rains that hit the state in late April and early May. In view of the critical situation, estimated to have affected more than 900,000 people, Caixa Econômica Federal mobilized to offer support and emergency measures to the population.
Caixa engineers and architects in the field:
- Technical support for city governments: Caixa is sending specialists in Housing, FGTS and government affairs to assist city governments in assessing the damage and planning the reconstruction of the cities;
- Data collection and planning: The expertise of engineers and architects will be essential for accurately diagnosing the situation and defining strategies to restore normality.
Financial assistance from Caixa Econômica for RS residents
- FGTS disaster withdrawal: Affected workers can withdraw up to R$ 6,200.00 from the Severance Indemnity Fund. The request can be made quickly and easily through the FGTS app;
- Suspension of charges: Individual and corporate customers with credit contracted in areas affected by the rains will be exempt from charges when renewing pawn loan contracts;
- Payment flexibility: Possibility of postponing installment payments for up to three months in various types of contracts, such as Individual Personal Credit, Business Working Capital, Individual and Business Renegotiation;
- Rural Credit: Extension of the maturity date for Rural Credit operations for Financing and Investment;
- Housing financing: Suspension of housing financing for up to three months, upon request;
- New credit with reduced rates: Special conditions for taking out new credit, with lower interest rates to help resume activities;
- Grace periods for financing: Extension of payment terms across various credit lines, such as Payroll-Deductible Credit and Working Capital;
- Simplified insurance: The Caixa Seguridade plan will have a streamlined claims process, with simplified documentation for flood victims.

The announced measures aim to alleviate the impacts of the flood and assist in rebuilding the state. The bank continues to monitor the situation and make itself available to provide the necessary support to the victims.
