According to the verdict of the first instance judge who assessed the situation, government entities are to blame for the vulnerability in the system. Especially when the exposed information was allegedly used to propose payroll loans to those involved.

Therefore, people impacted by the exposure must obtain R$15,000 each from Caixa and other government institutions. However, the legal process is still ongoing, as the parties involved can appeal to higher levels of the judiciary.

The Brazilian Institute for the Defense of Personal Data Protection, Compliance and Information Security (Sigilo) led the initiative against data leaks. Therefore, those who want to find out if they are entitled to receive amounts from Caixa should visit the institute's website.

There is a dedicated page here so that participants in Auxílio Brasil in 2022 can enter their personal information:

  • Full name;
  • CPF;
  • E-mail;
  • Telephone contact.

The website will then indicate whether or not the individual is entitled to the amount from Caixa. Furthermore, the institute does not charge for the consultation service.
