Bolsa Família: Double payment for these beneficiaries in August.

With the arrival of August, millions of people registered with the Single Registry (CadÚnico) receive encouraging news. Families in situations of social vulnerability who benefit from Auxílio Gás will see the return of social support payments this month.

Due to the benefit payment schedule, the Federal Government suspended transfers in July this year. Basically, Caixa Econômica distributes the amounts every two months, corresponding to the average time a 13-kilogram gas cylinder usually lasts.

Since Auxílio Gás made its last payment in June, the July payment was not made. Thus, program participants eagerly awaited August, as Caixa will resume the transfers. In fact, August will be notable for the double payment to millions of CadÚnico users.

Why will there be a double payment in August?

First of all, it is important to emphasize that Auxílio Gás is intended only for those who meet the benefit requirements. The main one is having an active registration with CadÚnico, which aims to include the neediest families in social programs.

• Families with a monthly income of up to half the minimum wage per individual (R$ 660);
• Families with total monthly earnings of up to 3 minimum wages (R$ 3,960);
• Families with an income above 3 minimum wages, but who seek or are linked to a program or benefit that uses the Cadastro Único;
• People experiencing homelessness, either alone or with their family.

Individuals who meet these criteria are eligible to receive the Social Identification Number (NIS), through which the government makes social benefit payments. However, being registered with CadÚnico does not guarantee receipt of the benefits, as each program has its own rules.

For example, Bolsa Família is only guaranteed if the monthly income is up to R$ 218 per family member. If the amount exceeds this limit, families registered with CadÚnico will not be entitled to Bolsa Família.

However, those who meet all the requirements for Bolsa Família and Auxílio Gás will receive a double payment in August, one for each benefit.

According to the Ministry of Social Development, Family and the Fight Against Hunger, 5.62 million families benefited from Auxílio Gás in June, and a similar number is expected for the August payment.

When will the next Auxílio Gás payment be made?

Auxílio Gás payments will resume in August, following the payment order based on users' NIS ending, during the last 10 business days of the month. Thus, a new group accesses the amount in their accounts each business day.

It is important to note that this is the same payment date as Bolsa Família. Therefore, families receive the double payment of the benefits on the same date, according to the official calendar of the federal government.

How does the government determine the amount of Auxílio Gás?

In June, the Auxílio Gás installment amount was R$ 109, benefiting 5.62 million users of the social program. It is worth noting that the federal government consults the database of the weekly survey conducted by the Agência Nacional do Petróleo, Gás Natural e Biocombustíveis (ANP) to determine the benefit installment amount.

The agency reports the national average price of cooking gas every month, and the government uses this data to establish the installment amount paid to users.

According to the ANP, the average price of cooking gas fell to R$ 101.86 in the country. This means that the government could even reduce the installment amount paid, instead of making a transfer of R$ 109, as occurred in June. However, this will probably not happen, as the installments are slightly above the national average price.

In summary, families can only participate in social programs if they are registered with CadÚnico through the NIS, such as Auxílio Gás and Bolsa Família. In addition, receiving one benefit does not exclude the other. In fact, those who receive Bolsa Família are more likely to be approved for Auxílio Gás.
