Throughout the year, several audits have been carried out in the Bolsa Família program aimed at eliminating ineligible beneficiaries. After all, the essence of this social project is to provide financial assistance to the most disadvantaged and needy. However, we have noticed that individuals who do not need this assistance unfortunately continue to enroll in the program.
Therefore, these exclusions have occurred periodically, as the Government identifies irregular circumstances, such as deceased beneficiaries, families with incomes above half the minimum wage per individual, among other conditions.
In this article, we have compiled the main criteria that have led to the immediate cancellation of the Bolsa Família program, allowing you to examine your situation and correct any noncompliance. Keep reading to understand!

Understand the criteria for the immediate termination of the Bolsa Família program
The Bolsa Família program has certain guidelines that must be observed when registering families. The first, and one of the most relevant, is per capita family income, that is, the total income divided by the number of family members.
If such income exceeds R$ 218 per individual, the family is not eligible for the benefit. In contrast, if the monthly amount received is equal to or less than R$ 218, the assistance will be maintained.
However, families must also comply with certain rules to avoid having the benefit blocked, such as:
- Pregnant women must receive prenatal care at the Basic Health Unit;
- Children must be enrolled in school, with attendance above 60% required for those under 5 and at least 75% for those over 6;
- It is essential that all children are up to date with their vaccinations;
- Nutritional monitoring of young children is mandatory.
All these factors are considered when deciding whether to keep the family as a beneficiary. However, that is not all. Another aspect that can lead to disqualification from the program, and of which not all families are aware, is updating the registration.

This occurs because it is necessary to update CadÚnico at least once every 24 months, or when the family in question is summoned. If the update is not made under these circumstances, the benefit may be suspended and subsequently terminated. Stay alert to this!
My income increased, will I be excluded immediately?
In reality, immediate exclusion due to increased income occurs when the family starts earning amounts that exceed half the minimum wage per individual, that is, more than R$ 660 per family member.
If you were a beneficiary of the Bolsa Família program but had a small increase in income, approaching half the minimum wage per individual, you will still be covered by the so-called “Protection Rule”, under which the payment is reduced by half but is still granted to the family for two years, as long as it does not exceed the income limit per individual.
