The Federal Government's Single Registry for Social Programs (CadÚnico) is the main means of accessing welfare programs. Therefore, keeping this registry up to date is extremely important. However, in recent days, a fraud scheme has affected low-income families registered with CadÚnico.

Thus, in Cambé, Metropolitan Region of Londrina, in Paraná, at least ten families reported to the municipal department of Social Assistance the receipt of suspicious messages via WhatsApp and SMS, instructing them to register again through a link, which is actually a trap to collect personal data and withdraw the amounts of benefits, such as Bolsa Família.

How the CadÚnico scam works

Therefore, through the scam, victims are directed to fill in their information on a fake website, through which criminals gain access to the personal data necessary to carry out the undue withdrawal of money, usually using Pix.

However, it is worth remembering that updating CadÚnico occurs exclusively in person, at the Social Assistance Reference Center (Cras) or during joint efforts organized by the department. Therefore, it is not possible to re-register digitally.

In view of this, affected families must file a police report. In addition, they must re-register to regularize the situation with CAIXA Econômica Federal.
