The Provisional Measure that could ensure an internet benefit for beneficiaries of the Minha Casa Minha Vida program is approved by the Senate. Discover the details!
Provisional Measure 1162/2023, which examines the possibility of including an internet benefit in Minha Casa Minha Vida, was voted on and ratified by the Plenary of the Federal Senate last Tuesday (13).
The ratification took place through a Conversion Bill (PLV) 14/2023, under the rapporteurship of Senator Efraim Filho (União-PB). The PM amended the General Telecommunications Law, which allocates resources to the sector.
Thus, the proposal is to subsidize expenses for telephone services, internet and pay television for those who benefit from the Minha Casa, Minha Vida social program. It is worth noting that, if there had been no vote, the PM would have expired on 06/15.
Understand the Senate's new proposal
The main intention is to ensure the population's connectivity, reducing digital, informational and cultural disparities among the low-income population. In addition, the central objective is to reduce inequality in access to technology.
Therefore, those benefiting from Minha Casa, Minha Vida may receive an internet benefit, with all the infrastructure that guarantees access to telecommunications in the country.
Furthermore, connectivity emerges as one of the main pillars of the social program. The idea behind this possible internet benefit is to truly integrate the population, while also ensuring that everyone has access to information.
Minha Casa, Minha Vida projects are returning
The internet benefit is not the only action for the resumption of the program. Among the new features of the social benefit's redesign, we have also included:
- 5% of housing funds and parliamentary amendments for halted projects, retrofit and redevelopment projects;
- Projects in municipalities with up to 50,000 inhabitants.
The aforementioned benefits will be for construction companies that choose these construction methods under Minha Casa, Minha Vida. In addition, other subsidies will be regulated to fit into 3 categories:
- Use of sustainable and environmentally friendly technology;
- Projects located near public health and transportation services;
- Housing projects in commercial areas.
