On Tuesday afternoon (13), the Bill (PLV 14/2023) that reintroduces the “Minha Casa, Minha Vida” program was approved by the Federal Senate.
Families with a monthly income of up to R$ 8,000 will benefit from the program, whose provisional measure was issued by the President of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), and approved by the Chamber of Deputies last Wednesday (12). It now awaits presidential approval. Learn more!
Return of “Minha Casa, Minha Vida” after Bolsonaro’s government
The report was sent to the Chamber by Representative Marangoni (União Brasil-SP). Among the changes approved by the House, the permission to use resources from the Severance Indemnity Fund (FGTS) in projects related to Urban Land Regularization (Reurb) stands out.
Reurb is responsible for services such as public lighting, basic sanitation, road maintenance, and stormwater drainage.
The project is derived from Provisional Measure 1,162/2023, whose validity expires this Wednesday (14). Its objective is to recreate the program, which was implemented during Lula’s second term in office, in 2009. Subsequently, under former president Jair Bolsonaro’s government, the program was terminated in 2020 and replaced by “Casa Verde e Amarela”.
Now, the program provides housing in residential complexes for low-income families, divided into three brackets. Check the breakdown of the families served by “Minha Casa, Minha Vida”:
Bracket 1 – gross monthly family income of up to R$ 2,640;
Bracket 2 – gross monthly family income of up to R$ 4,400;
Bracket 3 – gross monthly family income of up to R$ 8,000.
