An important announcement was made by the Government to warn people who are at risk of losing their benefit. Find out who is in danger.
A crucial notice was issued by the Government to the population: there is a high possibility that many will lose their benefits due to outdated registration details in the system. Therefore, the deadline for updating the data is the end of the year.
The Rural Electricity Tariff is one of the benefits offered by the Federal Government to the population. It enables rural producers throughout the country to receive a discount on their electricity bills. This initiative aims to encourage small producers and reduce production costs.
The discount rate varies according to the region and the electricity distributor. To access the benefit, citizens must prove that they reside in a rural area and are involved in the agricultural sector, either as a producer or an employee.
The Government is calling beneficiaries' attention
One of the conditions of the Rural Electricity Tariff program is that beneficiaries renew their registration annually to ensure the discount remains in effect. The purpose is to assess whether citizens still meet the requirements necessary to receive the benefit.
Therefore, producers who fail to renew their registration will end up losing their right to the Tariff. Thus, the Government issued the notice to prevent beneficiaries from losing the discount by neglecting to update their data.
For example, in the state of Sergipe, 19 thousand producers must renew their registration. In Piauí, more than 1,500 rural producers lost the Rural Tariff because they did not renew their registration.
How is the update carried out?
Therefore, rural producers must go to the offices of the region’s energy distributors with documents proving their rural activity and personal identification to update their information. In addition, they have until the end of the year to renew their registration and secure the discount for the following year.
