Voa Brasil: criminals impersonate a famous website to commit a scam

The federal government will soon launch the program Voa Brasil, a platform that will provide more affordable tickets for INSS (National Institute of Social Security) retirees and pensioners.

Voa Brasil has not yet been launched, but scammers have used a fake portal to simulate a CNN Brasil report to attract victims. See below how the scam works and learn how to protect yourself.

Brazil Fly Coup

The scam begins when criminals send links to victims offering fake discounts on flights. When the victim clicks on the link, they are redirected to a chat to register, and it is at this point that the scammers obtain data such as full name and CPF.

Once this is done, the user is directed to a payment tab, which must be completed within a maximum of 30 minutes. In this way, one of these portals pretended to be a CNN Brasil report, using the visual identity of the vehicle.

CNN highlighted in a statement that it did not advertise any type of promotion or ticket sale on any of its platforms. The statement also highlights that CNN repudiates this practice and has already taken the appropriate legal measures.

In light of the situation, the federal government issued two official statements, highlighting that the program is still in its final phase and that there are still no concrete rules regarding its operation.

In addition, there was a warning for citizens to report these practices through the following official channels:

How will the program work?

As mentioned before, the program is still in its final stages and has not yet released all the rules. However, what is known so far is that Voa Brasil will make tickets available at R$ 200 to retirees and pensioners of INSS who has an income of up to R$ 6.8 thousand.

Therefore, this group of people will be entitled to two tickets per year, with the right to a companion, to the destinations available during the low season. It is worth noting that those who have not traveled in the last year will be able to purchase up to 4 tickets.
