Minha Casa Minha Vida (MCMV) has launched a great new feature for beneficiaries: exemption from program installments. However, this new feature has left many people confused: do I need to pay the next installments or not?
Therefore, see below all the details and new rules of the government's housing program and clear up your doubts!
Who is entitled to exemption from installments?
Who receives the Family Allowance and the BPC (Continuous Benefit Payment) is exempt from paying the installments, that's right, if you receive these benefits you will not need to pay the amounts.
The rule applies to future installments and to old and new contracts. Therefore, old contracts registered with Bolsa Família or BPC up until September 28 are eligible.
However, contrary to what many people thought, the installments already paid will not be returned. In other words, the benefit is for future installments only.
With regard to future contracts, it can be said that Caixa will carry out a classification analysis for each contract to find out whether exemption will be possible.
Thus, approximately 600 thousand families in the Bolsa Família program and 150 thousand families in the BPC program are entitled to this new feature.
New rules My Home My Life
The idea of changing the rules of the housing program came about with the intention of minimizing Brazil's housing deficit. See what's new:
- Automatic inclusion: those who are eligible will become part of the exemption program within 30 days after the rules are implemented.
- Exemption for previous payments (for beneficiaries who have already paid at least 60 installments);
- Reduction in bureaucracy: families must now go to agencies to complete bureaucratic procedures and wait 180 days to formalize payment.
About the properties
With the new rules, the maximum value of a property in Band 1 was R$170,000 in urban areas and R$175,000 in rural areas. In other words, MCMV has become more accessible. Furthermore, with low interest rates and more installment options, the program will reach more people.
