Starting today (02), Caixa Econômica Federal is offering a new withdrawal alternative for Brazilians. Therefore, the state-owned bank grants formalized employees, who celebrate their birthday in October, the withdrawal of a portion of their Severance Pay Guarantee Fund (FGTS).

This withdrawal opportunity is made possible through the option called anniversary withdrawal. However, it is crucial to clarify that, by selecting this option, employees waive the right to withdraw the full amount in urgent circumstances, such as in cases of unjustified dismissal.

Caixa withdrawal for those born in October

For those who celebrate their birthday in October, the FGTS anniversary withdrawal becomes available from the first business day of the month of their birthday. Therefore, those born in October can start withdrawing their amounts as early as the second day of the month 10.

Furthermore, employees born in October have until December 29, 2023 to withdraw the amount from Caixa. If they do not do so by this date, the funds will revert to the Fund's account, and the withdrawal will only occur the following year.

How can I withdraw my FGTS by birthday?

To make the anniversary withdrawal, the employee has two methods: in person at a Caixa Econômica branch or digitally through the FGTS app, compatible with Android and iOS devices. In the digital way, the procedure includes:

  • Log in with your Caixa account;
  • Go to the “My Withdrawals” section and choose “Anniversary Withdrawal”;
  • Select “Change FGTS withdrawal system” and agree to the terms and conditions;
  • Finally, click on “Opt for Anniversary Withdrawal”.

In short, it is essential to emphasize that, when opting for the anniversary withdrawal, the employee will remain in this modality for a minimum period of 24 months before being able to revert to the termination withdrawal.
