The 13th salary of retired, also known as Christmas bonus, is a right guaranteed by law and is there to give you an extra boost at the end of the year.
Payment is made in two installments, each with 50% of the total benefit amount. But be careful: if you need to pay Income Tax, the discount will only be made on the second installment.
1st installment:
- Value: 50% of your total benefit.
- Payment date: Between May and June, according to the INSS calendar.
- IR Exemption: This portion is exempt from Income Tax, so you can make the most of your money.
2nd installment:
- Value: 50% of your total benefit, minus the IR discount, if any.
- Payment date: Between the end of May and the beginning of June, according to the INSS calendar.
- IR discount: If you need to pay Income Tax, the discount will only be made on this installment.
INSS 13th Salary Advance Payment Schedule
The National Institute of Social Security (INSS) follows tradition and releases, each year, two benefit payment calendars:
- For those who receive up to the minimum wage (R$ 1,412 in 2024): The calendar includes the payment of the 13th salary and ensures that insured persons receive it between the days April 24th and May 8th.
- For those who earn more than the minimum wage: The schedule applies to insured persons who receive the full benefit amount at once.
