The National Social Security Institute (INSS) began paying the advance 13th salary to its beneficiaries today, Wednesday.
The advance payment of the thirteenth salary has been a practice adopted by the INSS since 2006 and aims to help insured persons and pensioners handle year-end expenses more peacefully. The payment is made in two installments, with the first paid now in May and the second in June.
With this advance payment, the government seeks to inject resources into the economy and stimulate consumption, helping to drive the country's recovery. Approximately 31 million beneficiaries are expected to receive the advance 13th salary payment.
Who is entitled to the advance 13th salary?
To be entitled to the thirteenth salary, one must be insured by Social Security during the year, receiving retirement, a survivor's pension, sickness benefit, accident benefit or imprisonment benefit. The amount received monthly must also fall within the ranges established by INSS.
It is important to emphasize that the advance payment of the 13th salary does not affect the beneficiary's monthly income amount.
The first installment corresponds to 50% of the benefit amount for the month of May, and there are no tax deductions. In the second installment, income tax is deducted, if applicable.
The amounts of the advance thirteenth salary vary according to the benefit amount received by the beneficiary.
For those who receive up to one minimum wage, the amount of the first installment will correspond to the full benefit amount. For those who receive more than one minimum wage, the first installment will be equivalent to 50% of the benefit amount.
Payment Schedule
The National Institute of Social Security (INSS) follows tradition and releases two benefit payment schedules each year:
- For those who receive up to one minimum wage (R$ 1,412 in 2024):The schedule includes the payment of the 13th salary and ensures that beneficiaries receive it betweenApril 24 and May 8.
- For those who receive more than one minimum wage:The schedule applies to beneficiaries who receive the full benefit amount at once.
